Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, grandmas, moms-to-be, and those desperately wanting to be moms. Please know you are loved and recognized for this incredible (and hard) work that is called motherhood. Moms have A LOT on their plates, from keeping track of everyone’s doctor’s appointments to taking kids to extracurriculars (and everything in between). It’s an emotional and physical labor of love, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Speaking of awesome moms, you know I love capturing real-life moments that you will remember forever. That’s why I’m grateful for my good friend, Cami, who also happens to be an excellent mom. She knows that motherhood, and parenting in general, is HARD.
Recently, I had the fun privilege of capturing Cami’s real-life moments with her cute family, simply living life. I loved watching her interact with her kiddos, whether painting their nails, making cookies, or having a dance party. Watching her with her children was fun, and I love her optimistic view on parenting.
I asked Cami what her favorite part of motherhood is, and I loved her answer:
“My favorite thing about motherhood is how the little things are the most meaningful. You expect to feel excited when your babies say “mama” or take their first steps. You’re not surprised by the emotions when your oldest goes to kindergarten. It’s not a shock that snuggling your kids is heartwarming. But when your newborn wraps their finger around your finger?! That is the magic. When your kids discover their favorite song and sing it at the tops of their lungs? That makes your heart want to explode. Watching your kids do the things that make them, *them* is so exciting. Seeing how they are the same and different than you are is exhilarating. It’s the little things that they do and learn and become that are my favorite.”

Cami’s words beautifully capture the essence of motherhood. As my children grow older, I am reminded of my struggle with infertility and it breaks my heart. I long for those precious moments of rocking them to sleep, snuggling with a newborn, and watching their first steps. Though I may feel sadness for the passing of those stages, I am filled with joy as I experience every moment where my 7 year old tells a hilarious joke that genuinely makes me laugh. Or when my daughter excitedly writes her own name. Motherhood and life are truly magical, and it’s important to remember that it’s the small moments that make it all worthwhile. I’m grateful for the examples of real life motherhood, friends that I can vent to, my village who will help me, my mom who did everything she could to mold me into the best person she could. Mothers truly need to be celebrated!
As Mother’s Day approaches, consider giving the gift of a photography session. This gift celebrates the beauty of motherhood and preserves precious moments forever. A photography session is more than a gift; it’s a heartfelt thank you for every hug, every sacrifice, and every “I love you” whispered in the dead of night. Whether it’s a gift for a new mother experiencing the joys of parenthood for the first time or a seasoned mom with a lifetime of memories, I would love to capture that special lady in your life and your wonderful family. Here’s to making this Mother’s Day one for the books. Cheers to the women who make our world go ’round, with a smile on their faces and love in their hearts.
