There’s something extra special about photographing great friends. I’ve had the absolute joy of watching the Lowry family grow over the years—capturing milestones, giggles, and those chaotic brotherly love moments that make family photography so meaningful.
I’ve photographed their four boys from the time they were little. Watching them grow and change—while still somehow staying the same goofy, loving crew—has been such a gift.
Lately, I’d been feeling like I was in a bit of a creative rut. Sometimes as a photographer, you need a chance to play, to push your creativity without rules. When I mentioned this, Abi (because of course she understood) gave me full control of the session—from the wardrobe to the location and even down to the details like barefoot feet in the sand. It was exactly the kind of refresh my creative heart needed.
We chose the iconic Great Saltair just west of Salt Lake City, Utah for its dreamy, wide-open skies and soft, sandy textures. The natural light reflecting off the water and sand gave us a magical glow that made every image feel golden and timeless. And there’s just something about bare feet in the sand that invites kids to be fully themselves—playful, relaxed, and free.
The Lowry boys were, as always, a blast. Full of personality, energy, and brotherly love (and maybe a little mischief). Watching them explore the sand, chase each other, and pile in for tight sibling hugs reminded me why I do this work in the first place.
This session wasn’t just about photos. It was about trust, friendship, and the gift of creating something together. It filled my cup in the best way, and I’m so excited to share just a few favorites from our barefoot Saltair adventure.
If you’re looking for a family photographer in Salt Lake City or wanting to plan your own sunset session at the Great Saltair, I’d love to help you create something meaningful—maybe even barefoot in the sand.
